Why a Behaviour Consultation?

Behaviour consultations are essential for a variety of reasons. Cats, like humans, have unique personalities and behaviours which can sometimes lead to challenges in their care. We can help you with targeted counselling sessions for properly setting-up or improving the living environment of your cat and preventing behavioural problems.

You might seek a behaviour consultation if you are thinking of adopting a cat, if you are planning to introduce a new cat into your household or you simply want to enrich your cat's environment and wellbeing, offering healthy and stimulating activities, or if you are experiencing issues such as:

  • Inappropriate scratching of furniture

  • Inappropriate elimination (outside of the litter box)

  • Excessive meowing or vocalisation

  • Conflict and aggression (inter-cat or against humans)

  • Fearfulness and anxiety

  • Stress and fear of the transport box, when visiting the vet and when taking medication

A behaviour consultation can be the key to unlocking a happier and more harmonious relationship with your cat.

Please note that, in the case of behavioural issues, the first point of contact should always be your veterinarian, even better if they are specialised in cat behaviour! It is imperative that the veterinarian (or, even better, the veterinary behaviourist) has a first assessment of your cat, as veterinarians are the only professionals who can diagnose and treat behavioural conditions or medical conditions which affect behaviour, including the prescription of relevant medications.
Please read more about the difference between a veterinary behaviourist, a clinical animal behaviourist and a cat behaviour consultant here.

We are happy to collaborate and communicate with your veterinarian!

If you are unsure about the kind of support you need, you can book a free 15-minutes phone assessment!
